This is our suggested 10 day itinerary you could use for inspiration if you decide to swap with us in Stirling. You can choose to do it in any order returning to the comfort of our serviced apartment every night with its comfy beds and full kitchen.

Day 1: Stirling Castle and Old Town

Take a stroll through the charming Old Town with its cobbled streets and historic buildings. You can explore the magnificent Stirling Castle, one of Scotland's most important historic sites. The city also boasts a variety of museums and galleries, including the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum, and the Tolbooth, a cultural hub for music, theatre, and exhibitions. For nature lovers, there are many parks and green spaces to explore, including the beautiful Kings Park, which offers stunning views of the city and surrounding countryside - all within walking distance from our apartment.

 

Day 2:  Wallace Monument and Bridge of Allan 

The National Wallace Monument is a striking tower located on the outskirts of Stirling. Visitors can climb the 246 steps to the top of the tower for stunning views of the surrounding landscape and learn about the life of Scotland's national hero, William Wallace. Bridge of Allan is a charming town located nearby, known for its beautiful Victorian architecture and scenic views.  You can enjoy a relaxing stroll through the town's parks and gardens or explore the variety of independent shops and cafes. The town also has a variety of walking and cycling trails in the surrounding countryside.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 3: St. Andrews and Fife Coast

Visit St. Andrews, the home of golf and explore the historic university town. You could have a game of golf at the world famous Old Course. Take a walk along the stunning Fife Coast and visit the charming fishing villages of Anstruther and Pittenweem for famous fish and chips or head to Elie for dinner at The Ship Inn down by the harbour.

 

Day 4: Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies 

Visit the iconic Falkirk Wheel, a unique boat lift that connects two canals - The Clyde and The Forth. Take a walk around the Kelpies, two 30-meter-high horse head sculptures that are a tribute to Scotland's working horses. 

 

Day 5: North Berwick

A charming seaside town located on the east coast of Scotland. Take a stroll along the picturesque beach and admire the stunning views of the surrounding islands. Nature lovers can take a boat tour to the nearby Bass Rock, which is home to a colony of seabirds, including puffins and gannets. The town also has a variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes to explore.  Drive to the Cliff Edge Cafe Drift for coffee and cake and take in the magnificant views of the North Sea,  Tantallon Castle and search the rock pools at Seacliff Beach. Try the famous lobster roll at the Lobster Shack at the harbour in North Berwick on the way home.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 6: Take the train to Glasgow

Explore the cultural attractions of Glasgow, including the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the Glasgow Science Centre. Take a walk through the stunning Glasgow Green and visit the iconic Glasgow Cathedral. Shopping in the Famous Argyll Street. Lunch and cocktails at one of the many offerings near the famous George Square.  We love The Ivy.

Day 7: Take the train to Edinburgh

Visit the historic city of Edinburgh and explore Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. Take a stroll through the stunning Princes Street Gardens and visit the National Museum of Scotland.  Just wander the streets and soak up the atmosphere. 

 

Day 8: Head to Doune Castle and Deanston Distillery 

Explore historic Doune Castle, which has been featured in popular films and TV shows.  Are you an Outlander fan?  This is Castle Leoch!  Have a look and see if you can spot me in some of the later series hanging out with Jamie Fraser.  Visit the Deanston Distillery and learn about the whisky-making process and sample some of Scotland's finest single malts. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 9: Loch Lubnaig and Loch Venacher, Loch Ard Callander, Aberfoyle  

Depending on the weather and the season you are spoiled for choice here.  Fancy a spot of wild swimming or paddle boarding?  This is the spot for you.  Warm up with a hot chocolate at the Cabin at Loch Lubnaig.  Head to Callander feed the ducks down at the river or take a short walk to the famous Bracklinn Bridge.  There is a fantastic visitor centre in Aberfoyle - David Marshall Lodge.   In October / November head to Loch Ard for a stunning walk to see the beautiful Autumn colours reflected in the loch. 

 

Day 10:Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park 

Take a scenic drive to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. You could hike to the top of Ben Lomond for stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Looking for something more relaxing?  How about a day spa at Cameron House Hotel? Head to Balloch and take a boat tour of Loch Lomond and explore the quaint villages along the shoreline.  Or if it is a nice sunny day just head to Balmaha and sunbathe at the beach.  Lunch at The Oak Tree Inn.
